Ok, just had to include this picture of the girls working on the binding of their Wonky Squares Quilt.  Hannah was a little chilly, so was wrapped in her quilt while she stitched!  There are more pictures on the web page www.needleworks.org and the blog http://alli-needleworks.blogspot.com.

 Up-coming KidSew Camps...check the web site for complete details.

  • Creative Afternoon......we are going to create without sewing machines.  All supplies are included and we are going to dye and paint fabric as well as make beads and buttons using a variety of materials.  We have room left in the class if you still want to join.  $150 includes all supplies.  Monday-Friday, 2-4pm, July 19-23
  • Open Sew.....Originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 21 to Friday, July 23; 10am-1pm, we have added in the Monday and Tuesday classes if desired.  There are still a few spaces left and if you are already registered and want a few extra days we have the room.  The open sew times have been scheduled for children who want to sew a project of their own choice.  We'll have lots going on.
  • Free Motion/Stained Glass.....here's another way to be creative....we'll be sewing a wall hanging using two great techniques.  The kids will learn how to Free Motion Quilt (no experience necessary) and then stitch bias tape to create a stained glass efffect on the quilt.  Tuesday-Friday, August 3-6; 1-4pm
  • Bag Camp....Learn some unique and exciting embellishing techniques and make a bag!!!!  Monday-Friday, August 9-13; 10am-noon.

  • Bathrobe...sew a bathrobe and learn some of the basics of garment construction. Thursday, July 22, Wednesday and Thursday, July 28 & 29; 6-9pm
  • Fabric Wrapped Bowl/Bag...Learn how to make these great bowls and bags using 2 different methods.  Lots of fun and a great way to use up that "old" fabric.  Wednesday, July 28; 6-9pm
  • Let's Get Shirty....shirts are a wardrobe basic and are quite easy to sew.  Let Andrea Steell (formerly of Akasha Clothing) show you some great tips and tricks for getting a good fit (Monday, July 26) and sewing a creative one-of-a-kind basic (Tuesday, July 27)
  • Summer T-Shirt...Get the fit right and you can sew T-shirts in less than an hour  (i promise!).  Learn some fitting and sewing techniques while you make a t-shirt.  August 4 & 5.
  • Open Sew....get some help starting or finishing a project, or just come and sew.  Tuesdays 6-9pm or Thursdays 7:45-9:45am.
  • Karen has some ideas for Christmas projects.  We'll post those next week.

  AND two lovely flannels.....these won't last long!  I can see PJ pants in my future.

  AND finally......we are continuing our weekly sale on knit fabrics.  20% off.  If you empty a bolt, make it 25% off.  That's all the t-shirt knits, fleeces, some lovely plush fleeces and boiled wool sweater knits.

Its Stampede Time!!!!!!

Don’t tell anyone, but I don’t celebrate!  The combination of crowds, noise and smells are not my favourite, plus I don’t go on the rides….so I will spend the next 10 days sewing, sewing, sewing and a bit more sewing!  If you feel the same way, come join me for the Tuesday evening  or Thursday morning Open Sew.  We can have our own fun!!!

 Sale

· This week’s sale has been 20% off all patterns, pattern kits, magazines and books.  Pick up some holiday reading.  Or you may want to get a pattern kit or two to either sew up or give away the kit as a gift.   Sale ends tomorrow.

· Next week’s sale…….any knit fabrics (interlock, fleece, etc) are 20% off.  Sale price in effect till next Saturday.

· We also have discontinued Kwik Sew patterns at $5 each.

 We received the latest issue of Burda World of Sewing.  There are a few copies left, as well as Stitches and Quilting Arts.  Pick them up this weekend while they are still on sale.

Mystery Quilts: pick up your instructions for sewing the B-units on Saturday, July 10.  It is not too late to join.  Show us each completed step and we’ll enter your name for a chance to win a $75 gift certificate.
